Painful Ear and Fucking Hughes

Did I mention that Toad ended up at the doctors office (ie emergency room where the covering pediatrician saw him) on Monday and was diagnosed with an ear infection? I can't complain - it's his third ear infection EVER.

This morning, however, I woke up and everything from my left ear to the left side of my throat hurts. Coincidence? I THINK NOT. Fortuntely I have a small stash of antibiotics set aside for just this type of situation.

Now about fucking Hughes. HUGHES SUCKS. WHENEVER Scott is on vacation I warn him - I PLEAD with him, and he doesn't listen. See, with our satellite internet, we're alloted only a specific amount of megabytes to download a day. Opening a webpage? There's a bit of megabytes. Viewing a YouTube? TONS of megabytes. Anyway, with the basic plan we were allotted 200 MB a day.

EVERY TIME SCOTT IS ON VACATION HE GOES OVER!!!

What does this mean? This means that you get knocked down to sub-standard dial-up speeds....which, with my line of work, is unacceptable. So at 8:30 last night I was down at Toad's school "borrowing" their wifi, in my nightgown, contacting a Hughesnet representative.

"You would like to upgrade your account to the professional account, correct?"

(even when I chat with them I cannot help but to do the India dialect).

"CORRECT. Like now - or yesterday - please!"

Within 45 minutes we restarted the server and voila! We now are allotted more megabytes. How much more? 375. How much extra? 10 bucks.

For ten measly dollars we get almost double the amount of MB per day.

Damn Hughes - why couldn't we have gotten that BEFORE?!?!?!

In other news we've got a respite girl coming for the weekend. We've had her before, whenever she gets kicked out of school for misbehaving, and she's definitely a little spitfire. Here's the thing, though - she was upset because coming here meant that she wouldn't be able to go to the measly little fair that was in the city next to us. Yesterday she went on a field trip with her school (which got back around 8 pm) - and then her mother, apparently feeling guilty, chose to BRING HER TO THE FAIR. Oh, yeah, did I forget to mention that she's EIGHT!

You think this may be part of the problem? She wants it? She gets it. So I'm sure she's going to be in a peachy mood all weekend, just as I'm sure her mother and I are going to have a little discussion on Sunday...
